Pre-Diabetes Questionnaire: If you answer 6 or more yes to the 14 questions below, you are increasing your risk for pre-diabetes. Diabetes Prevention Did you know that almost 1 out of 4 people in America are either diabetic or pre-diabetic? According to the CDC 57 million Americans are pre-diabetic and 24 million are diabetic. This disease does not generate fear because it can simmer for years, damaging the heart, kidney, eyes and other organs that often only surfaces in middle age and accepted by many doctors as a simple part of the aging process. There should be an outcry as in the next 24 hours, 2200 people will be diagnosed with diabetes, over 500 will die from it, and almost 220 will go blind or have an amputation. Other complications include: heart disease, high blood pressure, nervous system damage, liver disease and Alzheimer’s. Why is there an epidemic of diabetes? While there is a genetic component to diabetes, people have FULL control as to whether they get it or not, by the choices they make in their diet and exercise. This was proven in a landmark government backed study (published in the New England Journal of Medicine February 7, 2002), that took two groups of pre-diabetics in 1996 and had one group take medication, while the other group lost 7% of their body weight, ate similar to the U-Lite and Ultra Lite program, and exercised 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Of the first group on medication, 48% became diabetic when the study ended in 2001, while from the second group no one became a diabetic. This was again proven again in a European study involving over 23,000 Germans, where the cumulative net effect of not smoking, exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight, resulted in:
The key word to note in the American study is Pre-Diabetes. You see for years before people become diabetic they are pre-diabetic. However, our healthcare system is monitoring these pre-diabetics until they become a diabetic, at which point, diabetic medication is prescribed, which is not only very expensive with side effects, but for almost 90% of the population the complications mentioned above do not stop developing. The time to prevent diabetes is when people are in that pre-diabetic zone! This can be accomplished by implementing the U-Lite or Ultra Lite programs where you learn correct food habits to maintain healthy blood sugar, and any nutritional deficiencies needing supplements, while getting rid of abdominal fat that is a major inducer and promoter of diabetes. The other option is take a supplement to support healthy blood sugar such as Ultimate-G with Glysen K-1.
